About Accessabilities

The Journey Began with a Woman Named Jenny

Renee Ramon-Doughman, Founder and CEO of AccessAbilities has been a visionary since before the age of 12. In seventh grade, Renee’s father, a member of the Knights of Columbus, volunteered Renee and her siblings to assist with the local Special Olympics. That is where Renee met Jenny, an energetic participant with an unmatched spirit who ran track, engaged in other athletic events, and celebrated crossing each finish line as if she had won gold! Jenny’s passion and perspective demonstrated such a love for life and a remarkable confidence that inspired Renee, a young entrepreneur, to dedicate her career to cheer on those with disabilities to celebrate life and empower them with the tools and support needed to live a life of optimal independence.

right quotes

“For more than 35 years, I have worked with people with disabilities. From a kitchen aide to large county facility care coordination, non-profit management to privately owned businesses; I have fulfilled most of the roles that are essential to AccessAbilities. The one constant that has been modeled throughout my career is that people respond to how they are treated. If you treat people well, invest in training and process, you will make a connection that leads to successful outcomes for the individuals you are assisting, the team you are growing, and the community you are serving.”

Celebrating Years of Service in Indiana

AccessAbilities was established in 2004 in Northwest Indiana and has expanded to multiple communities throughout the state. Humbled by this significant accomplishment, we are celebrating 20 years of service by launching a new logo to connect and honor the people we serve and the team who partners with families and individuals across the lifespan to promote quality of life. The heart, made with fingerprints, represents the uniqueness of each person and the individualized services and treatment provided to support distinctive goals.

This is not about us. We do what we do to help others realize their potential, build skills, break down barriers, and create a circle of support to live life as independently as possible. From early intervention and our children’s autism program through adulthood and vocational support through waiver programs, AccessAbilities shares passion from the heart to instill the unmatched spirit of Jenny in all we serve.
